The Gold Standard in Motion.
In 2026, AMPP marks five years as a unified global organization. This anniversary is an opportunity to recognize the people, chapters, and shared work that have shaped AMPP since 2021—from strengthening standards access and certification pathways to expanding participation and building a more connected global community. Throughout the year, members and chapters are invited to share their experiences, their work, and the impact they see every day across the industry.
Why 2026 Matters
Five years after coming together, AMPP has become a global home for the people who protect the world’s infrastructure and advance corrosion and materials science. Across industries and regions, members are maintaining critical assets, sharing technical knowledge, and helping shape the future of the profession. This anniversary is a chance to reflect that collective impact and the role AMPP plays in connecting and supporting it.
What We’ve Built Since 2021
Since AMPP was formed, members have seen meaningful changes in how the organization supports their work—from access to standards and training to clearer certification pathways and a broader global network. These improvements are felt in the field, in classrooms, and across chapters, strengthening how corrosion control and materials protection are practiced worldwide.
This Is a Yearlong Campaign
The fifth anniversary will unfold throughout 2026, with stories, features, and moments that highlight the people and work behind AMPP. It’s an opportunity to recognize the profession, share experiences from across the community, and stay connected to how the organization continues to grow alongside its members.
AMPP is shaped by the people doing the work—across chapters, job sites, classrooms, and industries. Throughout 2026, you’re invited to contribute in simple ways, whether by sharing a moment from your career, a project you’re proud of, or a glimpse of your chapter in action. These stories and images help create a fuller picture of the community behind AMPP and the work that connects us.
Your Generational Stories
Cassandra Michelet’s story is a heartfelt reflection of three generations shaped by the corrosion and coatings industry. It began with her grandfather, a blaster/painter in Corpus Christi whose hard work and leadership inspired his three sons—including Cassandra’s father—to follow in his footsteps. Her father, now a Senior Coating Inspector, shared not just a career but a sense of pride and purpose that encouraged Cassandra and her siblings to join the industry as well. Today, Cassandra works closely with refineries as an industrial equipment vendor, carrying forward a legacy built on family, mentorship, and shared experience. She reflects on how the industry has evolved across generations—creating new opportunities, especially for women—and takes pride in staying connected to AMPP, where her family’s involvement has come full circle. From receiving a student scholarship to now serving as Treasurer of her local chapter, Cassandra’s journey is one of gratitude, growth, and giving back.

Mark Byerley’s story is one of legacy, loyalty, and a lifelong connection to the corrosion industry. Inspired by his father-a salesman who later purchased Tinker & Rasor—Mark knew from the age of three that he wanted to be part of the family business. Today, as President and CEO, he carries that vision forward, honoring a legacy that spans generations and deep ties to the industry’s history. From early involvement with the National Association of Corrosion Engineers to decades of participation in the annual Expo, Mark and his father have both played meaningful leadership roles, each serving as President of the organization years apart. Grounded in the belief that corrosion prevention protects lives, industry, and the environment, Mark reflects on the importance of tradition, the value of lasting relationships, and the incredible people who make up this field. For his family, AMPP is more than an organization-it’s a community built on decades of friendship, service, and shared purpose.
